Wireless alarms
Ajax wireless systems for finished, lived-in homes. No chasing, no redecorating, app control and instant alerts.
Ajax alarm systems →Richmond upon Thames mixes Georgian houses on Richmond Hill, Victorian villas in Kew and Barnes, Edwardian streets in St Margarets and Teddington, and 1930s semis around Whitton. Many sit on both sides of the river with large gardens and side access. Every system is surveyed in person, priced in writing, then fitted and set up on your phone.
New systems, upgrades of old panels, takeovers of alarms other companies fitted, and servicing — for houses, flats, shops and offices. Every system is designed from a survey of the property, never from a fixed kit.

Ajax alarm systems →Texecom and Pyronix wired systems for renovations and new builds, cabled at first fix and installed at second fix.
Texecom alarms →Old panel, lost engineer code, or an alarm the last owner left behind? We keep sound wiring and sensors and replace the panel.
Alarm upgrades →Beeping keypads, false alarms, flat batteries and faulty detectors on Texecom, Pyronix, Visonic, Risco and other makes.
Alarm servicing →Few London boroughs have as much period housing or as many large gardens as Richmond upon Thames. Original sash windows, cellars, glazed garden rooms and riverside access all change where a burglar alarm needs to look. Alongside the older houses there are interwar suburbs, post-war estates in Ham and newer riverside flats, each needing a different layout.
Tall period houses here often have a lower ground floor, a garden-level kitchen and several sets of sash windows within reach of the garden. A wireless alarm avoids cutting into plasterwork or cornicing, and detectors can be placed discreetly. Lower ground floors are treated as the ground floor, because that is where an intruder would usually start.
Many of these homes have been extended into the loft and out into the side return, often with a large glazed rear wall. We cover every external door and each ground-floor room, then check whether the new rear roof gives access to a first-floor window. Pet-tolerant detectors are available where a dog sleeps downstairs.
The 1930s semis around Whitton and Hampton usually have a garage, a side gate and a rear extension, while post-war houses in Ham often have open-plan ground floors with large windows. A wireless system suits both and is normally fitted in a day. Old wired alarms in these homes can often be taken over instead of removed.
If you are refurbishing a house in East Sheen or Twickenham, a wired system is the better choice: cables go in at first fix before plastering, and the panel, keypad and detectors follow at second fix. For riverside flats, we fit a compact wireless alarm and keep everything inside the flat unless the building's managing agent agrees otherwise.
A large share of Richmond upon Thames lies within conservation areas and the borough has many listed buildings; anything fixed to a listed building, including an alarm siren, may need listed building consent first.
Starting prices so you can budget. Your exact price comes from the survey and is fixed in writing before anything is booked.
Prices depend on the number of doors, windows and rooms. Anything that adds cost — an outbuilding, long cable runs, scaffolding — is flagged at the survey, never on the day. Monitoring and SIM connectivity are optional extras quoted separately.
We walk the property with you and check every door, window and approach before anything is priced.
Every device by make and model, the labour and the payment terms. Usually with you within 24 hours.
Dust sheets down, tidy cable routes, and every detector walk-tested before we leave.
App set up on your phones, everyone shown how to arm and disarm, and a completion certificate for your records.
We install burglar alarms across the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames — postcodes TW1, TW2, TW9, TW10, TW11, TW12, SW13, SW14 — and the neighbouring boroughs.
Tell us a little about the property and what's worrying you. We'll call back the same working day to book a time.
Yes. Wireless detectors fixed lightly inside, or placed on furniture and shelves, generally avoid any change to historic fabric. Anything attached to the outside, such as a siren box, may need listed building consent, so we can design a system that relies on an internal siren and phone alerts, or wait until you have consent before fitting external parts.
Large glazed rooms are best covered with a motion detector inside and contacts on each opening door. For earlier warning, shock or glass-break detection can be added so the alarm triggers when the glass is attacked rather than once someone is inside. We position detectors so sunlight across the glass does not cause false alarms.
Book a survey before first fix. We mark detector, keypad and panel positions with your builder, run the cable while walls and ceilings are open, then return at second fix to fit and commission the system. Leaving it until after plastering usually means a wireless system, which is fine, but the wired option disappears.
Usually, yes. We test the signal from the house to the outbuilding during the survey and add a range extender if needed. The outbuilding can then be set separately, so you can leave the house unset while the studio or store is protected, or arm everything together when you go out.
A wireless Ajax alarm starts from £995 including VAT, a wired or hybrid system from £1,995 including VAT, and upgrading an old panel while keeping your existing wired sensors from £495 + VAT. Your exact price depends on the number of doors, windows and rooms, and is fixed in writing after a free survey.
If your home is finished and lived in, wireless is usually best: no chasing walls, no redecorating, and most homes are done in a day. If you are renovating, a wired system run at first fix before plastering is the better long-term choice, installed at second fix once decorating is done.
Usually, yes — including systems we did not install. Where the existing wiring and detectors prove sound we keep them and replace the panel and keypad, which costs far less than a new system and can add smartphone control.
A 12-month guarantee on our installation work, alongside the manufacturer's warranty on the equipment we supply. You also receive a completion certificate for your records.
