How much does a burglar alarm service cost in London?
Our pricing starts at £120 inc VAT for a Diagnostic Visit (single fault, 1 hour on-site). The most popular package is our Service + Battery at £180 inc VAT, which includes a fresh 12V 7Ah panel battery, full system walktest, app re-pairing, and an annual service certificate. System Takeovers for legacy or abandoned installs start at £280 + parts. All prices are fixed and include VAT — no surprises on the bill.
Can you service an alarm system that wasn’t installed by SatFocus?
Yes, absolutely. The majority of our service work is on systems installed by other companies, often years ago. We service all major brands including Texecom, Pyronix, Eaton (Scantronic, Menvier), Visonic, Ajax, Scantronic, Risco, Honeywell Galaxy, Orisec, and ADT legacy panels. We carry the engineering software and parts for all of them. You don’t need any documentation from the original installer — we’ll audit the system on arrival.
How often should a burglar alarm be serviced?
UK insurance requirements and BS EN 50131 / PD 6662:2017 best practice recommend an annual service as a minimum. Monitored systems (with police response or ARC connection) typically require twice-yearly servicing. Our Service + Battery package at £180 inc VAT is designed to meet annual requirements and produces a service certificate you can share with your insurer.
My alarm is beeping every 30 seconds — what’s wrong?
Most likely a low battery warning — either the panel’s 12V 7Ah standby battery (typically lasts 3–5 years) or a wireless sensor’s lithium battery. The keypad will usually display a code or fault number identifying the affected device. Tell us the panel make/model and the displayed code when you call — we’ll often diagnose it remotely and arrive with the right replacement battery.
Can you upgrade my old wired alarm to app control?
In most cases, yes — without replacing the panel. We can add a SmartCom 4G/IP communicator to most Texecom, Pyronix, Eaton/Scantronic, Visonic, and Risco panels manufactured in the last 10–15 years. This gives you full app control (arm/disarm, history, notifications) without rewiring sensors. Cost typically £350–£550 + VAT depending on panel age and location. Do you replace alarm batteries?
Yes. We replace panel standby batteries (12V 7Ah typically), external sounder batteries (some bell boxes have backup batteries), and wireless sensor batteries (lithium AA or CR123A depending on device). Battery replacement is included in our Service + Battery package (£180 inc VAT). For a battery-only call, we charge £120 inc VAT for the visit + the battery cost.
What if my alarm panel is too old to repair?
Some panels manufactured before ~2008 (e.g. Scantronic 9651/9751, older Texecom Premier non-Elite, some Aritech CD models) are no longer supported by the manufacturer and parts may be unavailable. In these cases, we’ll quote an upgrade rather than a repair. We can typically reuse your existing wiring, sensors, and sounder, replacing only the panel and keypad. This usually costs £495–£695 + VAT depending on zones — significantly cheaper than a full new install.
Do you offer same-day or emergency callouts?
Yes. Same-day callouts are available across London & Home Counties, subject to engineer availability. Emergency response (within 4 hours) is typically £180–£250 inc VAT for the visit. For non-emergency jobs, we usually attend within 24–48 hours of your call. Out-of-hours and weekend callouts are quoted on request.
